Nick joined Leeds from Shaw Cross ARLFC in Dewsbury in July 1993. He made his first team debut whilst still 16 and was a player with huge potential in his younger years.
His first season came in 1993-94 when he made one substitute appearance. Over the next four seasons he developed into a regular first team prop making 18 appearances in the Centenary Season and matching that effort the following season. However, in 1997 the arrival of Martin Masella and Jamie Mathiou restricted his chances in the first team and after just six substitute appearances he moved onto Huddersfield Giants.
After showing tremendous prospects as a youngster, Nick’s career has been severely restricted by illness and injury. Whilst at Huddersfield a serious injury ruled him out for over a year and once he had returned injury struck as he broke his arm on two occasions.
However, a move to Warrington Wolves in the close season of 2001 saw an upturn in fortunes as regular rugby saw him gain a place in the Lancashire Origin squad and a substitute appearance in Origin I and II in 2002. Nick represented Great Britain Academy in 1995 and 1996 whilst at Leeds playing four games and touring to New Zealand.
