Giles began working for Leeds rugby originally with Leeds Tykes in 2001 on completion of his Computing with Accounting degree from the University of Leeds. Primarily his department analyses all aspects of individual, team and opposition play for feedback to the players and coaches.
His role has evolved to encompass assisting with player recruitment, player welfare and developing the rugby operation.
In 2011 Giles' department was further expanded to include similar responsibilities for the Leeds Rhinos allowing a centralisation and updating of the analysis operation. Giles can lay claim to being a 'dual code international' having acted as analyst for the England Saxons under Stuart Lancaster and later fulfilling a similar role for Brian McClennan's Exiles when they played England at Headingley Carnegie in the Rugby League International Origin Match.
A qualified Prince2 project manager Giles has been involved in many projects and was responsible for the installation and operation of the new big screen and scoreboard.
