Leigh Centurions 0 Leeds Rhinos 74

Leeds Rhinos returned to the top of the engage Super League and relegated Leigh at the same time with a record 74-0 win.

The Rhinos scored their first try of the game after 16 minutes when Ryan Bailey scored his first try of the season, Smith added the conversion.

Smith extended the lead when the young winger dived into the corner after a well timed pass by Keith Senior.
Matt Diskin then produced a brilliant piece of skill to gift a try for Danny Ward, Smith’s conversion making it 16-0 after 24 minutes.

Mark Calderwood then got another try for his account but the score was made when Richard Mathers dived on the loose ball from a messy play the ball by Leigh. The Rhinos moved down field before Calderwood raced round the outside to score, Smith added the conversion to make it 22-0.

Keith Senior then finished off a flowing move that covered 80 metres, the initial break was by Chris McKenna before Ali Lauitiiti produced a great off load to put Senior away to give the Rhinos a 26-0 lead at half time.  Chev Walker got the scoring started in the second half with a try he created with an initial 40 metre break and then supported the run of McKenna to score. Smith’s conversion made it 32-0.

Ashley Gibson then came on for his debut and remarkably scored with his first touch.  Mark Calderwood scored his second try of the game after 53 minutes as he collected a knock down from Walker off a crossfield kick by Mathers.
McKenna then capped a fine display with a try after 62 minutes, he brushed aside the attempted tackle of Darren Fleary to score.

Ashley Gibson celebrated his debut with a second try as he finished off a 60 metre break by Calderwood and then completed his hat trick again with good support play. He converted both tries to make it 56-0 after 68 minutes.
Danny McGuire became the ninth Leeds player to score in the game with a 50 metre break and just managed to evade the cover to score, Gibson adding the conversion.

Two minutes later and McGuire was in again. This time he supported the break by Ryan Bailey and raced in from 30 metres out, Gibson again converting.  Bailey then scored himself touching down after the Rhinos poured on the pressure on the Leigh line. Gibson converted to bring up the Rhinos biggest ever away league win.
