Leeds Rhinos U19 vs Wakefield U19

Adrian Morley’s Under 19s kept their top four play off hopes alive with a well earned 46-6 win over Wakefield at Stanningley.

The Rhinos opened the scoring on a sunny evening with Tom Schofield put Owen Trout through a gap with a short pass and his offload found Josh Jordan-Roberts, who proved unstoppable from short range.

The lead was extended when Harvey Whiteley elected to go back to the short side after Muizz Mustapha went close and James Barraclough forced his way over to make it 12-0 at the break.

At the start of the second half, Harry Newman punished some slack play by Trinity as he made the most of the free play after a spilled pass by the visitors to race 70 metres up field and score.

Quick hands along the back line then set up the next try with winger Alfie Goddard stretching out to touch down in the corner to make it 22-0.

Wakefield did get a try back after that but it was a brief stoppage in the flow of points and Leeds were soon back down the other end with Newman crossing for his second try, as he cut a lovely line to go through the defence.

Whiteley got a well deserved try after that as he spotted some lazy defence near the line. Kiedan Hartley then got his name on the score sheet, finishing off a long range break before swapping to the wing to score his second try following a clever piece of play by Lewis Hosty.
