It is fitting that Bradford should be Danny’s opponents for his testimonial given the central part the rivals at the Bulls played on his arrival on the world stage. His match winning try against the Bulls at Old Trafford in 2004 not only launched his career but the Rhinos golden era. He added, “I am delighted that Bradford have agreed to come and play. It is the big game that players and fans look forward to, I have loved playing against Bradford down the years and both teams will be looking to put down a marker for the season. It is the only real friendly both squads will play before the start of the season so it’s a big one. I am really pleased that Fran go the job there, has been plying his trade as an assistant for a few years and all the guys at the Rhinos know how good a coach he is. It is really nice that he can come back to Headingley as his first game as Head Coach but on the day it would be nice for us to get the result with it being my testimonial game!”
