We arrived at the youth hostel I think an hour before most. It was a huge house surrounded by rivers and mountains. There were also a lot of farms with fields full of sheep. When we went on our scenic walk we found out that we had a potential farmer in the team because every time Paul McShane whistled the sheep would all crowd around. It was funny because they were coming from three and four fields away jumping walls and seemed to be racing one another.
The next activity we took part in was a bike ride. I didn't have the best of luck as I never seem to do with bikes. We were about 3 miles into our bike ride. We had just finished all the roads and were going off track where the fun was to begin and my chain snapped. The tour guide who had a bag of tools began working out the chain only to find his chain linker was bent. After 20 minutes of trying to re-connect the chain we came to the conclusion it was not going to work. So Willie P said he would come back with me so we freewheeled and dragged each other along the whole 3 miles back. Luckily enough before the chain broke I was able to see Brett Delaney and Kylie Leuluai really going at it in a race, which was called 'The Tour de Cumbria'. Kylie won!
Overall, the Cumbria experience was a really enjoyable one. The people of Whitehaven are really big on there rugby league and it was a really good experience to play up there and to also help out with the coaching sessions as all the kids who came along were really keen to learn.
