Leeds Metropolitan University are delighted to launch, in conjunction with Yorkshire County Cricket Club and Leeds Rugby, the first in a series of Masterclasses. On Wednesday 4th July from 9.15am - 5pm the world famous Headingley Carnegie Stadium will play host to the "Winning the Business Game" Masterclass followed by the Yorkshire Phoenix Vs Nottingham Outlaws Twenty20 Cup match. The day will focus on "Talent Management" with former England pace bowler and current Yorkshire County Cricket Club Captain, Darren Gough and Great Britain and Leeds Rhinos Rugby League Coach, Tony Smith amongst the speakers. The Masterclass brings together the latest research and thinking on Talent, from academia, business and top flight sport in what should be a fascinating day. The Masterclass aims to highlight what is best industry practice and how this can be transferred from the elite sports arena to the business environment. Managing talent within the business is key to achieving a competitive edge and long term success and the day promises to bring fresh thinking to talent strategies. Darren Gough added: "There are two things I think are massively important when it comes to developing a winning team: one is attitude - you want someone with pride and passion in your team, someone who is positive and is prepared to work hard. The second one relates to the environment - players need to be happy at work, with each other and with the whole set-up. Get the environment right and you're part way there."
