Brian McClennan spoke of his delight that Carl Ablett has signed a new contract with the Rhinos this week. The Leeds boss believes the second rower has made big improvements to his game since breaking through to the side as a 19 year old in 2004 and he still believes there is much more to come from him.
Speaking exclusively to Rhinos TV McClennan said, "Carl is 23 years old, which surprises a lot of people, given that he has been playing for a while and has been in two Grand Finals and two World Club Challenges and he's just getting better and better and if he keeps improving by the time he's 25-26 he's going to be a fantastic player."
This week has also seen the signing of Kyle Amor from Whitehaven, a player who McClennan feels has great potential, "Kyle is a young man who has only been in the Whitehaven system this year, so he has only been doing professional training for a year but he's just taken to it like a duck to water. Their coach up there, Jed Stokes, is really happy with his progress and his attitude and there's a potential for him to go on and play pro football. We've had a good look at him and can see the potential in him as an athlete and having met him he has the characteristics we like here at the Rhinos."
