The Rhinos defeated Featherstone Rovers 66-0 in their only full pre-season fixture and have been on a training camp to Cyprus as part of their build up. McDermott had the luxury of picking from a virtually full strength squad with only youngsters Luke Briscoe, Jared Stewart and Liam Hood ruled out.

Looking ahead to the game he said, "We are not getting too excited about what we have done in pre-season, the hard work starts now for us. We turned things around at the back end of last year, even before the play offs, and we recognised that this season we need to be better than last year from the start of the season.

"Hull KR are a dangerous side because they have a new coach, they are suffering with a few key injuries and they are coming ot the home of the Champions on the opening day. Those factors can pull a group together to produce a great performance and we need to be ready to match that on Friday night," added McDermott.
