Leeds legend Barrie McDermott is getting the inside line on the Rhinos Carnegie World Club Challenge opponents Manly Sea Eagles whilst in Australia. McDermott is assistant coach to Andy Kelly with the Ireland team and the side have been training at the Sea Eagles Narrabeen training ground. Elland Road was yesterday confirmed as the venue for the Carnegie World Club Challenge for the third time when Leeds take on the Australian champions on Sunday 1st March, kick off 6pm. Tickets will go on sale in mid-November but already supporters are anticipating a classic match up between two of the most famous clubs in world Rugby League. Barrie got his hands on the NRL trophy won by Manly earlier this month at training yesterday as he helps to build up Ireland's preparations for their crucial pool game against Samoa. Ireland played their part in the game of the tournament so far when they narrowly lost to Tonga on Monday, they will be hoping that Kylie Leuluai and Ali Lauitiiti can help Samoa to victory over their South Sea neighbours so that Ireland will stand a chance of progressing to the knock out stages.
