The Rhinos U21 recorded a great 26-18 win over Wigan in the curtain raiser at Headingley Carnegie with James Archibald crossing for two tries. The visitors included former Leeds hero Mark Calderwood, playing in his first Academy game at Headingley Carnegie for many years, plus Harrison Hansen who had been named in the New Zealand squad for the XXXX Test against Great Britain. Leeds led 16-14 at half time and managed to keep in front of the Warriors until the end of the game. As well as Archibald there were also tries from Jordan Tansey, Luke Burgess and Ashley Gibson. Gibson also weighed in with three goals. Calderwood crossed twice for the Warriors and received a warm round of applause from the South Stand as he left the field.
