Leeds Rugby's Head of Physiotherapy Services Meirion Jones and Head Physiotherapist David O'Suillivan operate a private clinic where members of the public can utilize the same expert treatment that the Leeds Rhinos players enjoy.
ABOUT MEIRION JONES
Meirion returned to Headingley Carnegie in 2006 to become head physiotherapist with the Rhinos having previously worked with Leeds Carnegie from 2002 until 2005.
Meirion is originally from Llanfyllin in mid Wales and came to Leeds to study at Leeds Metropolitan University. He then worked for the NHS in Newcastle before returning to Yorkshire to team up with Tony Smith at Huddersfield Giants.
In April 2002, he moved to Headingley Carnegie to join Leeds Tykes, originally as Academy Physiotherapist before being promoted at the start of the 2003-04 season to Head Physiotherapist.
After taking a year out to travel in 2006, he returned to Leeds Rugby after former physiotherapist Patrick Moran left the club to join the Llanelli Rugby Union club.
Meirion is based the club's training ground at Kirkstall and also sees private patients who can receive the same expert treatment that the players enjoy at the Leeds Rugby Rehabilitation Clinic.
The Rhinos are proud of their medical record with players both in preventing injuries and returning players ready for action. A vital part of Meirion's role at the club is to work with Head Conditioner Jason Davidson and the coaching staff to monitor the players and ensure wherever possible that the risk of injuries occurring in training are limited and that the health and well being of the playing staff is paramount.
In 2008, Meirion's skills were recognised when he was elevated to the role of physiotherapist for the England national team for the World Cup in Australia.
