Leeds Carnegie Lead Physiotherapist

A job opportunity has arisen at Leeds Rugby for a highly motivated physiotherapist who will be required to lead the clinical first team caseload at Leeds Carnegie Rugby Union club.
The successful applicant will work in the Leeds Rugby Rehabilitation Centre alongside Leeds Rhinos Rugby League medical staff with additional peer support from the Director of Physiotherapy.
Extensive experience of working with elite athletes is essential. The candidate must have a excellent understanding of advanced rehabilitation and performance development and their integration.
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in Leeds Rugby's Rehabilitation Department and work in this highly motivated and progressive department. This full time post is available with remuneration and incentive package based on the skill set and experience. Job Description REPORTING TO: Carnegie Head Coach and Director of Physiotherapy
Relationships – Carnegie Head Conditioner, Assistant Physiotherapist, RFU Academy Physiotherapist. Nature - Provide a 1st class medical process to the Full time Professional squad.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILIITES 

  • Manage a comprehensive and accessible medical and physiotherapy service throughout the week and on First Team Squad match days home or away.
  • Asses all First Team Squad injuries and in discussion with the medical staff decide upon all investigations to establish an accurate diagnosis and prognosis.
  • Assess all First Team Squad injuries and implement a structured treatment and rehabilitation plan in relation to the diagnosis and the specific individual player’s needs.
  • In conjunction with the strength and conditioning staff implement and design a modified program to optimize strength and conditioning development without jeopardizing the healing process.
  • Liaise with medical and conditioning staff on First team squad players programs to minimize the risk of injury, improve durability, recovery and performance.
  • To liaise with our specialist consultants to optimize our player management and improve our pre and post rehabilitation protocols to optimize patient recovery. 
  • Provide daily medical reports to the Director of Rugby, Strength and Conditioning Staff and Director of Physiotherapy. 
  • Manage massage programs for all full time players and use the information provided by the masseurs to further decrease the risk of injury. 
  • Manage the academy Physiotherapists for clinic cover and arrange match cover for all junior fixtures. 
  • Disseminate first team practices and protocols through the academy physiotherapists to part time playing staff as appropriate.
  • Liaise with medical staff from International sides on player injuries and availability.
  • Utilise the computerized injury database to maintain injury and consultation data on all Full Time players’ physiotherapy treatment. 
  • Develop in liaison with Director of Physiotherapy a comprehensive pre match and training process to promote health and performance. 
  • Develop in liaison with the Director of Physiotherapy and Head Conditioner, a quality and comprehensive post match recovery and regeneration process.
  • Work and manage within department budgets. 
    Management of medical supplies and equipment to conform to minimum RFL standards. 
  • In conjunction with the Director of Physiotherapy develop a quality research programs investigating different interventions effects on improving health and performance. 
  • Commit to and contribute to an ongoing professional development program. 
  • Provide the assistant physiotherapist with sufficient support and clinical development. 
  • Appraise the assistant and RFU academy physiotherapist annually and assist in implementing a continuous development plan. 
  • When required provide or assist cover for all aspects of the Leeds Rugby Physiotherapy team. 
  • Take undergraduate and post graduate placements.
