Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Yorkshire Cricket Foundation will be hosting children and families across the region this Sunday as Headingley Carnegie Stadium opens it gates for the annual Children’s Day.

The free event which was re-introduced to the city in 2008 brings together organisations and charities from Yorkshire together for a day of child friendly activities, cricket and rugby festivals and a chance to meet the entire Leeds Rhinos squad.

Organisations including Eureka, Central Yorkshire Scouts, Wagamama, GAME, Diddikicks Football, Ping Table Tennis and this year's associate sponsor Nando's will be attending the event located around the stadium with Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Yorkshire Cricket Foundation providing skills zones and stadium and museum tours on the day.

As part of the day's schedule, under 7s players from 25 of the charity’s Ambassador Clubs will take part in a small sided primary rugby league festival on the famous Headingley Carnegie Stadium pitch for a Sky Try festival.

Rhinos star Jordan Lilley said: “It is a good day out and it’s great to see and meet different people and sign autographs for kids.  It’s good to get involved with fans and give something back.  They come and watch us on a weekend so it’s always good to give back and get involved in games.

“It should be a good day and hopefully the sun will be shining and everyone can have a fun day.  Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Yorkshire Cricket Foundation do a fantastic job in putting on the event and getting all the activities together and I will join in and get involved.”

Children’s Day will also see a host of performances from musical and dance acts on the Mears stage throughout the day with members of the Rhinos squad speaking to the crowds alongside hosts from Rugby AM.

Gates open at 10am – 4pm and families attending the event can make a suggested donation of £3 per adult and £1 per child attending on entry. All proceeds will support the work of Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Yorkshire Cricket Foundation.
